Toronto Blue Jays players George Springer and Ernie Clement asked to move seats at Maple Leafs game

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer and infielder Ernie Clement were informed by an usher that they were sitting in the wrong seats during the Toronto Maple Leafs' National Hockey League regular-season game against the New York Rangers at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on March 25, 2026.

The incident, which gained attention on social media, occurred as the players watched the game from the stands. Video showed an usher tapping Springer and Clement on the shoulder before they relocated a few rows higher and into the middle of their assigned row.

In their correct seats, nearby fans recognized Clement and exchanged fist bumps with him. Springer and Clement later joined surrounding fans in high-fiving celebrations following a Maple Leafs goal.

Scotiabank Arena, located in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has been the home of the Maple Leafs since it opened in 1999 as Air Canada Centre and was renamed in 2018.[1]

George Springer, a U.S.-born right fielder, has played for the Blue Jays since signing a six-year contract prior to the 2021 season.[2]

Ernie Clement, a Canadian infielder, joined the Blue Jays organization via trade from the Cleveland Guardians ahead of the 2023 season.[3]

The Blue Jays players were attending the game on an off-day before the start of their Major League Baseball season.
