New Day duo Kingston, Woods exit WWE roster
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, known as the New Day tag team, have left WWE as part of recent releases. Reports indicate the duo departed on Saturday, with their profiles moved to the alumni section on the WWE website. Tonga Loa and JC Mateo also exited the company.
Kingston and Woods formed the New Day with Big E, building a strong fan following. After Big E suffered a serious injury, the pair continued as a tag team. Kingston achieved singles success, winning the WWE Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 amid widespread fan support during the "KofiMania" period. He also held the Intercontinental Championship four times and the United States Championship three times. Woods joined WWE in 2010 following time in TNA and NJPW, and won the King of the Ring tournament in 2021.
The duo captured tag team titles four times together and eight times including their runs with Big E. They won their most recent championships at WrestleMania 41, shifted to a heel persona afterward, and lost the belts in June. Woods sustained an injury that year, while Kingston aligned with Grayson Waller before the departure. Tonga Loa appeared in WWE from 2009 to 2014 and returned in 2024 to join Solo Sikoa’s new faction, MFT. JC Mateo entered WWE in 2025, supported Sikoa, and teamed with Tama Tonga as tag champions before dropping the titles to Damian Priest and R-Truth in March.
These moves mark the latest in a series of WWE roster changes.
